About Playa Vista

Playa Vista is a neighborhood in the Westside area of Los Angeles, California. In the 1940s, the aviator Howard Hughes bought the site and constructed a private airfield runway and an aircraft factory with large hangars for his Hughes Aircraft Company production. By the mid-1990s, Playa Vista converted the former Hughes Aircraft hangars, including the one that held the Spruce Goose, into Hollywood sound stages. Scenes from movies such as Avatar, Transformers, Iron Man and Titanic have been filmed at Playa Vista.

Playa Vista along with  Santa Monica and Venice, Marina del Rey, Playa del Rey, Culver City, El Segundo and Mar Vista, has become known as Silicon Beach. Playa Vista stands in for Silicon Valley in the movie The Circle with Emma Watson and Tom Hanks. This location is very convenient to shoot suburban scenes and big tech media scenes.
